Hawaii Superferry

Visitors to Hawaii

Hawaii is a rainbow of experiences. There is scenic beauty and an array of attractions that create indelible memories.  Add to that palette now an exciting new mode of transportation.

Hawaii Superferry invites you to take to the sea, where passengers and their vehicles can travel the ocean highway between islands.  As a walk-on passenger or motorist with a rented car, ferry travel is both fun and practical.

Our 350-foot catamaran-style vessel is named the Alakai (“Ocean Path” in Hawaiian). It accommodates 836 passengers—complete with aloha attire and cameras—and 110 vehicles of various sizes including motorcycles, cars, trucks and buses. Built in Alabama by Austal, one of the world’s largest builders of fast ferries, Alakai incorporates the most advanced marine technology and safety standards.

The passenger deck was designed for comfort and open vistas of the land and sea that pass in view on the way to your destination. There is one route, for instance, where one navigates through three Hawaiian islands—Molokai, Lanai, and Maui. You can get this perspective only at sea level.

On-board entertainment and amenities include three dining areas—The Galley, Surf Break Lanai, and the premium class Hahalua Lounge—a gift shop with made in Hawaii products, video game room, and children’s play area called Manta Cove.  Additionally, there are 34 wide-screen TVs for viewing movies, sports, and educational programming.
