Pet Travel
Hawaii Superferry will transport certain domestic animals from island to island without an HDOA certificate. Cats, dogs, chickens, pigeons and rabbits can travel onboard, but please observe a few rules:
- Please make reservations in advance if you plan to walk or drive on with a pet.
- Walk-on passengers can check their pet with baggage for a charge that depends on the animal’s weight. The pet must be contained in an IATA-approved leak-proof kennel/container. Both the animal and kennel will be subject to inspection and approval.
- If you are a walk-on passenger and plan to carry more than two pet containers, please contact our reservations center so that it can be noted in your booking.
- Dogs are allowed to travel free inside your vehicle at your discretion as long as windows allow adequate ventilation but prevent animal from escaping.
- All other animals traveling in a vehicle must be contained within appropriate enclosures to ensure they cannot escape or inflict injury to themselves.
- Both the animal and kennel will be subject to inspection and approval.
- Domestic livestock and poultry may travel in a vehicle if accompanied by a Hawaii Department of Agriculture Certificate of Ownership & Movement (Hawaii Department of Agriculture Animal Industry Form DC-44). This is limited to domestic cattle, horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, and chickens.
- A DC 44 can be obtained from the port staff on the day of the sail.
- Pets are not allowed to travel with unaccompanied children under 18 years old.
